Charming and full of character, Stanmore has delights for all tastes.

Stanmore is 6km south-west of the Sydney CBD. It is part of the local government area of Marrickville Council and is home to 7,702 residents.

Stanmore was named by a prosperous saddler, John Jones, who purchased land in 1835 where Newington College now stands and called it the Stanmore Estate. Jones named it after his birthplace of Stanmore, now a north-west suburb of London.

Today, Stanmore is a culturally diverse neighbourhood reflected in its restaurants, cafes, and shopping outlets.
